Baramati And Shrigonda Children's Homes
The Education Trust – Churches of Christ in Western India – operated the Baramati and Shrigonds Homes and is registered with the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner
In India the situation faced by girls in rural communities who are not educated is bleak. Their future is early marriage or various forms of rural servitude. The Shrigonda Girls Home has a school, safe accommodation and caring staff. It is located in a rural town and girls from the surrounding communities can come, be accommodated and educated which relieves their circumstances of poverty and helplessness and with an education, gives them hope of a better future.
The Baramati Boys Home enables boys from remote rural communities to attend high school in Baramati. Boys come from families living in poverty and this is determined by the family holding a ‘yellow’ card.
Both the Boys and Girls homes are licensed, not-for-profit and have child protection policies in place.
2019-2022: Continuing support for the care of vulnerable children living in education hostels and ensuring that they have access to schooling at the level they need.
